Bright golden-green with a fragrant, herbaceous nose of fresh-cut grass, tomato leaf, green almond and a hint of citrus peel. The palate is supple and balanced, with a gentle bitterness and a clean, peppery finish that makes it as suitable for raw use as for light sautéing.

The story of this lot

Zahara is produced by Oleificio Guccione in the Chiaramonte Gulfi area of south-eastern Sicily, a landscape of dry stone walls, ancient olive groves and marked temperature swings between day and night. The estate blends early-harvest Nocellara del Belice and Biancolilla olives, two of the island's signature cultivars, pressed within hours of picking.

The result is a medium-intensity oil that carries Sicily's characteristic freshness: green tomato, aromatic herbs and a soft almond note, with enough polyphenol structure to give a clean finish. The 500 ml bottle is presented in a patterned orange gift box that reflects the warm tones of the Sicilian countryside.

Multiple awards have recognised the estate's consistency. The oil is pitched as both an everyday finishing oil and a gift, with the packaging and provenance carrying equal weight. Free acidity is held at 0.25% and the polyphenol count sits at 480 mg/kg, placing it comfortably in the high-phenolic range.
